Coastal Pilotage is a very important service regardless of the skill or experience of the master of the vessel. When you enter coastal waters that are unfamiliar to you and any navigational crew you may have onboard, a coastal pilot can be flown or ferried to your yacht.                    
 
From there, the coastal pilot will use his knowledge of local hazards and customs to safely maneuver your vessel through the unfamiliar waters.                            
Coastal pilots never have more authority over the vessel than the ship’s master. The pilot only provides critical navigational information to the ship’s master. It is the duty of the officer of the deck to use that information to navigate safely.
